Tip by E ScottD on Step 14 18 hours ago Upvote 0 A couple of things, that I can see that would help your project would be to install a ground rod on the generator or the box leading to the generator grounding the circuit. It could preclude instances of getting shocked if touching something energized a hotplate and a device already installed in the home the stove, range hood etc.. Adding a ground rod would help. Also don’t run any high end appliances while on generator unless you keep a close eye on the fuel level. When the generator runs out of fuel, it dosen’t just stop, it runs down. While it is doing this it will decrease the amount of voltage to the house. Find an old picture tube type TV if ya have to have a TV. Tip by Philbert D 1 day ago Upvote 0 Great write up.
Wood, Coal & Pellet Stoves
DIY that pays back dividends. You can do a lot with your own two hands. A few options I have considered are:
1. Examine the stove closely to determine what heat source it uses: wood, gas, coal or electric. A gas stove will have a valve designed to hook up to a gas line; an electric stove has a cord or a.
May 8, Leave a Comment Yurts are a reflection of the beauty and simplicity of nature. Their rounded structure, illuminant lighting from the skylight, and open feeling can all put us more in touch with our natural surroundings. Fortunately, with good yurt heating, these beautiful structures can be wonderfully cozy as well. There are a number of ways to install yurt heating; almost any conventional method can be used.
Many of our customers prefer wood stoves, others choose pellet or propane stoves, some use central heating or electric heaters, and some even put in radiant floor heating. If ductwork is required for any heating solution, it can be installed below the yurt floor. Wood stoves are very common with yurt owners, but gas stoves work great too. We do recommend that a heating specialist be consulted with the installation of any heating solution and that local codes be checked before beginning.
A large, quality airtight stove puts out uniform heat over a long period of time. Yurt owners tend to agree that a yurt stove needs to be larger than what is recommended for a conventional room of the same size. The reason for this is that a yurt may have a little higher rate of heat loss than a conventional building, and yurts have a high ceiling making more cubic volume. Make-up air for the wood stove may be provided through a vent in the floor adjacent to the stove if necessary.
We strongly recommend that the pipe for a yurt stove be installed through the wall rather than the ceiling.

February 26, Scheepjes Whirl… Such a beautiful yarn. I received two Lavenderlicious whirls from my past employer as a goodbye gift. You can find the pattern here. There are a few things I loved about this pattern and this yarn. I loved that the yarn has this lovely gradient effect; such a beautiful colour transition.
I also loved that there were only 2 ends to sew in at the end of the project! I used a 3. As I crochet quite tightly, I could have used a 3. If I make this shawl again, I will likely go up a hook size to see the difference. I used almost the entire whirl on this shawl; there might be a small amount left, enough for a single hexi puff perhaps post about those coming in the near future! Once finished, I could see that blocking was necessary.
My dining room table seems to be the best place to block some of my projects, and I had just the right number of blocking boards for it to fit!

It may prematurely clog your jets, has a very strong odor, leaves an oil residue on everything it comes in contact with and may flavor your food if you don’t use a tight lid on your cookware. This fuel is extremely difficult to extinguish and like gasoline, the fumes have an explosive potential though not nearly as great , and should be stored in a metal container protected from direct sunlight. Kerosene may take longer to prime and requires a separate priming agent if you don’t want a lot of soot on and in your stove, jets and pot.

What you will need for this is the following: Just large enough to fit around a soda can. For this, I used a diced tomato can. One tube JB Weld or any other liquid epoxy that can withstand temperatures up to degrees F C. For those of you outside of the U. They should pay me for this. It is not important to get the exact size of the cans. All that matters is that the small can fits around the soda can.
The medium can fits around the small can, and the big can fits around the medium can. Add Tip Ask Question Step 3:

Cut out the burner hole. Stand one of the pop cans bottom side up. Use the knife to score the can around the inside of the ridge on the bottom of the can. Score an X inside this circle. Cut along each score from the center of the can to the ridge. Break out the four pieces leaving a round hole. Cut down two of the cans. The best way to mark where to cut the cans is to find something that is the correct height, or several items that will stack up to the correct height. Place the flat side of the utility knife on top if these items with the point barely hanging over.
Stand the can next to the knife point, and rotate the can while pushing it into the knife point.

We at the Antique Stove Hospital have noticed a troubling trend in the past months. There have been several businesses around the country that have opened up with very similar names to ours. If you are questioning the authenticity of your potential purchase, it is important to make sure that you are buying from either Emery Pineo or Brandon Pineo at the Antique Stove Hospital in Little Compton, Rhode Island. If you have been solicited by ANY other individual who represents themselves as being part of the Antique Stove Hospital, please let us know so we may take appropriate legal action.
One of the advantages of heating with wood is the variety of needs that just one stove can meet. Besides keeping us warm, a woodburner can cook dinner, dry clothes, and toast chilly toes. But.
Bullfrog April 17th, , I have installed similar appliances in the past, however, the store employee said that gas appliances must be now installed by a certified technician in Maryland due to a recent law. I can’t find any such state regulation, only reference to a Montgomery County rule that says precisely what he said ref here: I am in Carroll county, and have searched in vain for a county ordanance that says the same.
Does anyone have firsthand knowledge if this is required, and if so, suggestions on who could do it? Or perhaps, that I could do the work myself and have it inspected for a lesser fee? I know a licensed technician’s time doesn’t come cheap, but for something I can do in less time than it takes to call the technician I just object on principle: I’m sure I can handle pipe dope, a wrench, and some soap bubbles: Just tell them thanks but no thanks and have them drop it off at your door.
I wanted to install a gas line to my grill outside and decided to let a plumber do it. Insurance can’t come back and deny a claim later if it requires a licensed install. Big jump from hooking up a flexline to an oven to installing an actual gas line! I think the OP just wants to hook up the oven to an existing line.

Click on picture to enlarge The Kitchen Queen wood cook stove Big Difference The big difference between the Kitchen Queen wood cook stove and all other cookstoves that we know of is the route the heat and flue gases take around the oven. All other stoves run the heat over the top of the oven and down the far side, often past a cooling surface such as a reservoir.
Then it goes under the oven, where most of the time the flue gases have dropped below degrees. Then these gases will condense or liquefy into liquid creosote leaving a sticky mess, not to say anything of rotting out the stove. In this method all your heat must be radiated down into the oven. And heat does not readily travel down, therefore most of your heat will be in the top of the oven, resulting in bread being burned on top and under baked on the bottom.
Never try to hook up the liquid port that is used for a forklift to a grill. Or take the forklift cylinder to a propane dealer do to the high cost of forklift cylinders a used forklift cylinder is.

Anyone care to venture an opinion? Adding a trap to control air intake John Klingel is among those who wonders whether a trap could be installed in the incoming air duct in those cases where the stove is set up to use proximity air. Klingel passes along a link to a trap design from the City of Fairbanks, Alaska. Is his logic flawed?
Hooking up a gas stove or water heater is a relatively simple job requiring just basic tools and readily available supplies. And if you use the right materials and follow instructions carefully, you can safely do the job yourself. A professional may charge as much stove a few hundred dollars for a hook-up.
One of the most overlooked functions of a wood stove is heating water. The hot water front which is nothing more than a small tank with an inlet and an outlet was placed in the fire-box of the stove and the tank was connected by copper, steel, stainless steel, brass or cast iron piping. None of these systems required pumps or fancy controls. Instead of a circulating pump, the hot water would rise out of the water front into the top of the water tank.
The colder water in the tank would fall out of the bottom of the tank and into the hot water front small tank. In this system, the water circulates all by itself through the process known as thermosiphoning. Years ago this type of water heater would have been the primary or only hot water heater in the home. Today these are more commonly used to preheat well or municipal water before it enters the main water heater although they can easily supply enough hot water for a typical family during the cold months your woodstove is required.
This hot water front is made from stainless plate and has no baffles.
