I celebrate myself, and sing myself, And what I assume you shall assume, For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you. I loafe and invite my soul, I lean and loafe at my ease observing a spear of summer grass. My tongue, every atom of my blood, form’d from this soil, this air, Born here of parents born here from parents the same, and their parents the same, I, now thirty-seven years old in perfect health begin, Hoping to cease not till death.
Creeds and schools in abeyance, Retiring back a while sufficed at what they are, but never forgotten, I harbor for good or bad, I permit to speak at every hazard, Nature without check with original energy. The atmosphere is not a perfume, it has no taste of the distillation, it is odorless, It is for my mouth forever, I am in love with it, I will go to the bank by the wood and become undisguised and naked, I am mad for it to be in contact with me. Have you reckon’d a thousand acres much?

Most came down on the latter side:

Perched on a hill with its towers and green mountains behind it offers one of the best views of the Tuscan countryside. Of the 72 towers that once defined the profile of San Gimignano, only 14 remain. The triangular Piazza della Cisterna, which is paved with stones set on edge, has a well in the centre.
These squares date to the 13th and 14th centuries In addition to the churches and other buildings, another attraction of San Gimignano worth a visit is the Museum of Torture – featuring such ancient relics as a fingernail clamp and a metal pig’s head which, some say, medieval women were temporarily forced to wear for nagging their husbands too much!
Vintage Drums – Classic Kits Before drum machines and sample-rich electronic music, there were the original beatmakers—Elvin, Stubblefield, Bonham, Moon—each using a now revered drum kit.

Some were…brace yourself…pro, seamless Phenolic! Some of the shells, oh yeah, were gorgeous! Some of them are not what you think. You were given fair warning. I described my experience acquiring such a drum kit in these pages. The look was interesting, granted, but the metal was soft and prone to crack; the shells were porous second-grade Asian softer-woods, overly flexible, and often untrue or out-of-round. They had no value as trade-ups to prestigious brands they emulated: Slingerland, Gretsch, and occasionally Rogers.
Truth be told, for the most part, those stencil brand kits were dodgy and, if not outright junk, they rarely peaked the VU meters. There were, perhaps, such stencil brands emanating from the Pearl and Hoshino later Tama factories in the sixties. Today, my research suggests strongly that I limit myself to a discussion of Pearl s shells, specifically the good that resides alongside the bad and the ugly.
The good we never would have imagined possible. I know I certainly missed the point all these years. All I know is what I heard…when playing these budget kits in moments of weakness.

There were a few different strainer designs, including one type that utilizes a wire cable instead of a metal rod. The photo below shows the only engraved model known to exist. Photos courtesy of Mike Curotto In , Slingerland introduced their first tunable tom toms. The top head could be tuned but the botton head was attached to the shell with carpet tacks.
These bottom heads were very thick and made from goat or pig skins. In this year, Slingerland introduced the Broadcaster model. While not actually catalogued, the Broadcaster was the forerunner to the Radio King models. These lugs had tapped threaded holes for the tension rods. By , most lugs were equipped with spring-loaded, threaded inserts, which eliminated cross threading problems. The new extended patent pending adjustable snares gates were first used on this model, as well. While they are quite rare, a metal shell Broadcaster was also available in Few examples exist today.
As far as I know, there is no actual evidence of any legal action by Gretsch but it can safely be assumed that was the reasoning behind the name change.
